Adult Assessment Services

Our assessment services are all offered as a two-step process.  Please note that for most of the assessments offered through the Neurodiversity Clinic a prescreening assessment is required.  The cost of the prescreening assessment is $100 and is non-refundable.  However, the $100 will be applied to any out of pocket costs including copayments and deductibles.  The prescreening assessment is not required for assessments for age-related cognitive decline.

To begin the process of getting an assessment, please click on the order screening button on the right hand side of this page.  You will be prompted to provide us with basic information that includes insurance (if applicable) and the names and contact data for people who will be providing information for the assessment.

Adult ADHD Assessment

It is estimated that 2-3 percent of adults have ADHD.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that begins in childhood and involves psychological and behavioral features that can impact all aspects of life, including school, work, and relationships. It is characterized by persistent symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity.

The assessment of ADHD in adults involves the collection of information from the person being assessed and from people who know the person well, both now and as a child.

Much of the information for an assessment is gathered using symptom- and behavioral-rating forms that need to be completed by you, and others, before you are offered an appointment with the psychologist.

We conduct our assessments as a two-step process

 1. Screening

 2. Diagnostic Assessment

To proceed with any of the ADHD assessment options, you will need to purchase the ADHD Screening Assessment service first.

ADHD and Autism Assessment

It is not uncommon for a neurodivergent person to meet the established diagnostic criteria for both ADHD and Autism. Establishing the presence of all relevant diagnoses increases the likelihood that a person with have access to all appropriate treatments and accommodations.

The Assessment Process

The assessment of ADHD/Autism is a two-step process. To proceed, you will need to purchase the Screening Assessment service first.

The screening assessment includes the completion of a number of online forms and questionnaires. It also involves collecting information from others who know you now and who knew you as a child.  After the screening assessment is completed and reviewed an appointment can be scheduled with one of our team to complete an assessment interview.  Assessment interviews can be done in person or via video call (if approved by insurance).  Following the assessment interview you will be provided with a written report that includes any appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations.

Autism Assessment

The assessment of autism in adults can be complicated by the subtleness with which some of the features are manifested and by the skills that are acquired to hide many of the challenges from others.

Receiving an accurate diagnosis for an adult can be validating and can provide a framework for naming and understanding the uniqueness of one's life experiences.

Assessment Process

Collecting Information

An accurate diagnosis requires careful exploration of a person's history and experiences along with the use of assessment forms that have been developed to assist with the process.

Appointment

The appointment, which usually takes about an hour, is used to follow up on responses from the completed forms and to gather additional information about the person's history and any other potential causes of the person's difficulties, including other mental health conditions.

Diagnostic Report

After the assessment is completed, a written report will be provided that will summarize all relevant information and will include appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations.

Diagnostic Clarification Assessment

When an assessment is required and there are no specific referral questions, a more broad and comprehensive assessment may be required to determine the best path forward.  The specific time required and assessment techniques used will be determined by the presenting challenges and the sources of information available.

Neuropsychological Assessment

A neuropsychological assessment includes all of the elements included in a diagnostic clarification assessment as well as extensive assessment of cognitive functioning.  A neuropsychological assessment is typically required in situations where there is concern about a person’s cognitive abilities after an accident or illness that has impacted the person's brain functioning.

Disability Assessment

When the symptoms and difficulties associated with mental health conditions prevent a person from being able to secure and/or sustain employment, a disability assessment can help establish eligibility for support and services.
